Ryder was incorporated in Miami, Florida in 1933 by James Ryder. It began as a concrete hauling company with one truck, a 1931 Model “A” Ford. After some years, they widened their focus and started leasing. Ryder System was launched as a public corporation in 1955. By the 1960s and 1970s, they started expansion into the distribution and supply chain markets. In 2008, Ryder obtained three regional competitors: Pollock, Lily Transportation, and Gator Leasing.
