The organisation was formed after the Food and Drug Act was signed in the year 1906, by President Theodore Roosevelt. The main aim of the organisation was to make sure that there is no such misbranding or adulteration in food products. The former name of the company was the Food, Drug and Insecticide organisation, which was renamed to the current name of the organisation, FDA, in the year 1930.
