Whirlpool History

Whirlpool was founded in the year 1911. The company has been active for almost 107 years now. The founders of the company were Emory Upton and Louis Upton. The company history began inside a machine shop owned by Emory Upton. When Emory’s nephew, Louis had purchased a patent for a manual washing machine, the pair worked on creating a special kind of motor that would make the machine operate on its own as well. Soon, the company was selling their motorized wringer-type washing machines as well, to the company known as Commonwealth Edison and Sears Roebuck.
