During the late 1960s, Roy Raymond wanted to gift her wife some lingerie but was not at happy with the cheap options being sold at various departmental stores. Therefore, he spent his next eight years in researching about the lingerie market and thus started Victora’s Secret. The company was opened with a capital of $80,000. The first store of the company was established in the Stanford Shopping Center, located in California, USA. The name of the company was inspired by Queen Victoria of the UK. In the first year of the business, the company had grossed over $500,000 and therefore opened up new headquarters, a warehouse and four new store locations as well. Catalogue sales of the company had amounted to almost $7 million annual sales.
