The company was initially started as Addmired in the year 2008. The founders of the company are Gabriel Leydon, Halbert Nakagawa and Mike Sherrill. In the year 2012, the company changed its name to its present one after raising funds of around $8 million from Menlo Ventures. In the early years of the company, it released 13 games between 2009 and 2012 including various iOS games like iMob and iMob 2, Original Gangstaz and Global War Riot as well. In the year 2016, it rebranded itself by the name MZ. In 2016, it formed a partnership with Square Enix to create a Final Fantasy XV mobile MMO. In June 2017, the company released Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire through a subsidiary company known as Epic Action LLC.
