Davita was founded in the year 1994. The company has been operational for almost 27 years now. The former name of the company was Total Renal Care or commonly was known as TRC – which was the name for a dialysis company. In the year 1999, the company was on the verge of bankruptcy. The same year, Kent Thiry had joined the company as its CEO, and therefore the name of the company was changed to DaVita – the Italian word for giving life.
