Banana Republic is the foundation of two entrepreneurs, Mel and Patricia Ziegler who happened to have a unique taste and collected the interesting outfits whenever they traveled. They had a store in Mill Valley in Northern California that targeted mainly on safari and expedition wear. They grabbed the attention after the catalogue full of hand-drawn items and stories (they were quite famous for) got published. Following which, Gap Inc. bought Banana Republic and rebranded it and changed its name from “Banana Republic Travel & Safari Clothing Company” to Banana Republic, keeping the promise of looking after its unique spirit.
